A Taste of Fairhope + Fairhope Chocolate Collaboration
From Sea to Shining Sea
An Americana Celebration with Chef Jule
Something savory to start, something sweet to finish, and a trip across the whole country in between.
Just ahead of America’s 250th birthday, Taste of Fairhope and Fairhope Chocolate are teaming up for one night only. Chef Jule makes every single course by hand, pours a beer and a wine to match, and walks you through the story behind each bite as the night unfolds.
Every course lands in a different corner of the country. You begin in comfort-food territory and finish on two coasts at the same time. Jule connects the dots as you go, so by the last bite you have basically eaten your way from sea to shining sea.
The Menu: A Journey Across America
The Start
1.Hand-Made Pot Pie
Paired with an American beer
Flaky, hearty, made-from-scratch comfort. The all-American opening note, savory before we go sweet.
East Coast
2.Apple Pie
Paired with an American wine
As American as it gets, poured with a wine made to match.
Pacific Northwest
3.Brownie and Vanilla Gelato
Rich and fudgy meets cool and creamy.
The Midwest
4.Chocolate and Peanut Butter Buckeye
The Ohio classic, made the way only a chocolatier can make it.
The South, and Right Here at Home
5.Praline
Made with local Baldwin County pecans. Sweet, buttery, and ours.
The Finale
6.Florida Citrus and Almond Cake
A bright, bi-coastal close that nods to both Florida and California at once.
Beer and wine flow throughout the evening. Specific pairings per course to be confirmed with Chef Jule.
About Chef Jule and Fairhope Chocolate
Fairhope Chocolate is owned and operated by the incredibly talented Chef Julienne “Jule” Roach, one of the true gems of downtown Fairhope. For more than a decade, her shop on Fairhope Avenue has been a local favorite, and it is hard to imagine the town without it.
Chef Jule’s story is as rich as her chocolate. She was born in San Francisco but grew up traveling the world, from Nicaragua to Ethiopia, while her father worked with USAID and the World Bank. That global upbringing gave her a deep appreciation for culture, craftsmanship, and the art of bringing people together around food.
After earning degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Health Education, she and her husband, Dr. Ralph Buckley, moved to Fairhope, and that is when her second career began. She went back to school right here in town to earn her culinary and pastry degrees, and from there, Fairhope Chocolate was born. The shop blends European craftsmanship with Southern hospitality, using only high-end chocolate made with real cocoa butter and no waxes or fillers. That is what gives her chocolates that smooth, luxurious melt you cannot fake.
For this America 250 collaboration, she is bringing her full range and the stories behind every bite.
Why This Night Is Different
This is not a sit-quietly-and-eat dinner. Chef Jule is with you the entire evening, talking through the flavors, the regions, and the why behind every course. You taste her range, you hear her stories, and you leave with something handmade in your hand.
One night. One table. One trip across America.
